About Anna McDonald in Long Beach, CA

Counseling in the Long Beach, CA

Your stomach hurts. Your body is shaking and the chest pains are back. You are exhausted from the fear of the next panic attack and you are crying again but do not know why. You have started withdrawing from your friends, loved ones, and the life around you. You have not experienced rest or good sleep in weeks. You are done. You cannot continue this way any longer nor do you want to.

There is a longing for fulfillment and enjoyment in life again. You want to enjoy your relationships, your partner, your community, and your family but are at a loss of how to do so.

My name is Anna McDonald and I work with people just like you. Together we move through life challenges to transform our lived experiences and live a healthy, whole, and fulfilled life.  Whether you are faced with current or past trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, prenatal/pregnancy/postpartum challenges, or a relationship that is failing I focus on using treatment based on research to empower and emotionally heal my clients.

I believe therapy starts with service and empathy. Despite life circumstances or the reason one may be seeking support, I value understanding the feelings and needs of my clients and being of service to them. Therapy must also be built on a platform of honesty. How can there be room for growth or healing without a foundation of honesty and trust within the therapeutic space?

I graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 2018 with a Master’s in Social Work (MSW). I then went on to provide in-home therapy to a multiethnic, multi-aged community in Los Angeles (Service Plan Areas 6, 7, and 8) from 2018 to 2021. I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 2021. Prior to my MSW, I worked as an in-home behavioral therapist for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am a certified CORS (Crisis Oriented Recovery Systems) and MAP clinician. I am also working toward becoming a Certified Gottman Couple’s Therapist at this time.

I know it can feel like a big step to call a counselor, but I’ll make it easy. We’ll spend 15 minutes on the phone and I’ll let you know how or if I can help. If I am not the right person, I’ll do my best to get you to the right person.
